1. Who we are

This website is operated by Webnook ("we", "us", "our"), a UK-based web design studio. We are the data controller for any personal data collected through this website.

If you have any questions about this policy or how we handle your data, please contact us at hello@webnook.co.uk.

2. What are cookies?

Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. They are widely used to make websites work efficiently and to provide information to website owners.

Under the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR), we are required to tell you about any cookies we use and, where they are not strictly necessary, to obtain your consent before placing them.

3. Cookies this website uses

This website is a static site with no analytics, no advertising, and no user accounts. We do not set any tracking or marketing cookies ourselves.

The following third-party services are used on this site and may interact with your browser:

Neither of these services is used for advertising or behavioural tracking. As this site uses only functional, strictly necessary interactions with third parties, a cookie consent banner is not required under current UK PECR guidance. We will update this policy if our use of third-party services changes.

4. Personal data we collect

We collect personal data only in the following circumstances:

  • Contact form: When you submit the contact form, your name, email address, and message are sent to us via Formspree. We use this information solely to respond to your enquiry. We do not add you to any mailing list without your explicit consent.
  • Direct email: If you email us directly at hello@webnook.co.uk, we will retain that correspondence for as long as is necessary to manage our business relationship with you.

We do not collect any payment card details — all payments are handled by our third-party payment processors and are subject to their own privacy policies.

5. How we use your data

Any personal data you provide is used only to:

  • Respond to your enquiry or service request
  • Manage our contractual relationship with you, where applicable
  • Comply with our legal obligations

Our lawful basis for processing contact form data is legitimate interests (responding to a business enquiry you have initiated). Where we have a contract with you, our lawful basis is contract performance.

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for marketing purposes.

6. Data retention

We retain personal data only for as long as is necessary for the purpose it was collected:

  • Enquiry emails and contact form submissions — up to 2 years, or until the enquiry is resolved and no ongoing business relationship exists
  • Client project correspondence and records — up to 6 years from the end of the project, in line with standard UK business record-keeping practice

7. Third-party services

This site uses the following third-party services, each governed by their own privacy policies:

  • Google Fonts — fonts are loaded from Google's servers. Google's privacy policy applies to this data transfer.
  • Formspree — contact form submissions are processed by Formspree, Inc. Their privacy policy applies to data submitted via the form.

We are not responsible for the privacy practices of these third parties. We recommend reviewing their respective privacy policies if you have concerns.

8. Your rights under UK GDPR

Under the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018, you have the following rights regarding your personal data:

  • Right of access — you can request a copy of the personal data we hold about you
  • Right to rectification — you can ask us to correct inaccurate or incomplete data
  • Right to erasure — you can ask us to delete your personal data, subject to any legal obligations we have to retain it
  • Right to restrict processing — you can ask us to limit how we use your data in certain circumstances
  • Right to object — you can object to processing based on legitimate interests
  • Right to data portability — you can request your data in a machine-readable format where processing is based on consent or contract

To exercise any of these rights, please contact us at hello@webnook.co.uk. We will respond within one calendar month.

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the UK's supervisory authority, the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), at ico.org.uk.

9. How to manage cookies

As this website does not set tracking or marketing cookies, there is nothing to opt out of on our end. You can, however, manage or block cookies at any time through your browser settings. Most browsers allow you to:

  • View and delete existing cookies
  • Block cookies from specific websites
  • Block all third-party cookies
  • Be notified when a cookie is set

Please note that blocking certain functional cookies may affect how some parts of this website display or function.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time, for example if we add new features or services to this website. The date at the top of this page will always reflect when the policy was last revised. We encourage you to check back periodically.

11. Governing law

This policy is governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes arising in connection with this policy shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
